Church Safety Course

Unfortunately, it is a sign of the times that houses of worship have come under frequent attack.
Since June 2015, more than 160 people have been killed or wounded in attacks on churches and synagogues in the United States.

We can offer security services for houses of worship in our local area (San Antonio, TX), but many congregations do not want a visible armed presence. If that describes your congregation, we have put together a course to set the standard.

In Texas, volunteers may secure their congregations when the congregation’s leadership permits it, but the option to do so legally doesn’t explain how to do it well. There is no required training or licensing for volunteers, which is why we developed a series of modular options.

We have built a curriculum based on your needs. First, we will meet with your team, assess their current knowledge and skills, and then make recommendations based on those findings.

Everyone will take a core class that covers:

Laws pertaining to securing property against intruders, theft, and attack
When it is appropriate to place an individual under arrest
How to resolve conflicts peacefully and, if that fails, the proper use-of-force paradigm to legally protect your congregation
Situational awareness
Taking good notes and writing reports
How radios can enhance your capabilities without becoming a distraction or a tool used against you and your team
We offer varying levels of firearms training (the same courses available in our pistol program), priced affordably for churches with limited revenue. We also offer courses on non-lethal engagement methods at reduced prices.

We understand the financial restrictions most congregations face, so we aim to make this curriculum as inexpensive as possible while remaining sustainable. We can travel to your location if necessary — let’s talk!
