Level 3 Security Officer Training Course

 

35 hours instruction time over four days. 
Level II is a prerequisite for taking this course!

Topics include laws applying to armed security officers, use of force, escalation of force, conflict resolution, field notes, report writing, crime scene protection, patrol services, handcuffing, oleoresin capsicum (OC) spray use*, and baton training. Students will take a written exam and qualify with their service pistol.

Students will be introduced to the Texas Online Private Security (TOPS) Portal and how to register and complete their licensing process with the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).

Cost does not include firearm or ammunition. $250 for pistol qualification only; $275 for pistol and shotgun qualification. Online Level II is included in this cost. A portion of the classroom training is also online; if you wish for in-person only, an additional classroom fee of $75 will be required.

Pistol rental: $50

Shotgun rental: $50

Ammunition: $40 (per weapon system)

A non-refundable $50 deposit is required in order to hold your seat in the course. The remainder is due at the beginning of class (cash or money order only, please).

*OC Spray requires an additional course for certification ($35 for online course; $50 for in-person course).
